1. Quick Overview:

Steve has to figure out his own path in this movie as he adjusts to the modern world. He uncovers a plot that changes his whole view of what he thought he knew as he goes head to head with the dangerous Winter Soldier. But all is not what it seems…

This movie caught my attention because of the story, acting, and action. I find it very refreshing that there aren’t any incredible super powers in this movie and Steve is given his chance to shine as he makes friends with new people and creates bond in this new world.

2. The Good:

The performances are spot on and everyone does a fantastic job. There are just enough action scenes to keep it interesting, but the story is fleshed out and well-written. The music also makes an impact and makes the movie more memorable.

The fight between Steve and the Winter Soldier (on the causeway) is perfectly choreographed! It’s really a standout performance!

3. The Bad:

I’ll be honest – this is one of my favorite movies and I really can’t think of anything wrong with this movie. I think this is Marvel’s best movie!

4. In-Depth Breakdown:

Performances: Chris Evans really makes a fantastic Captain America. He’s very believable and really brings something special to the movie. Sebastian Stan brings the Winter Soldier to life and is able to switch between a cold, no-nonsense assassin and a confused and troubled man flawlessly. Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow is a perfect fit, and while she is a side character, she really helps bring the movie together. Anthony Mackie playing Falcon is great choice for Steve’s new friend, and who can forget Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury? As usual, an unforgettable performance.

Direction & Visuals: I loved the special effects in this movie because they look very natural and not too over-the-top.

Story & Writing: This movie and its story were very engaging! I also love how we get to learn more about the characters, old and new. We get to see a more fleshed out Steve, Natasha, and Nick Fury, which make the characters more relatable. I found the dialogue to be just right, with a perfect mix of humor and seriousness.

Pacing & Editing: This movie keeps me interested from start to finish, and the editing is perfect. I don’t really think this movie has any downtime or slow moments. I can’t recall any times where I think “Is this movie over yet”.

5. Themes & Message:

In my opinion, the theme and message of this movie is Steve coming to terms with the modern world and adapting to his new surroundings. He is also becoming his own person after discovering disturbing things about S.H.I.E.L.D. He is starting to form his own path as he makes new friendships, something he will need. I loved getting to see Steve start to make his own decisions without the need for a group (like the Avengers).

6. Music & Sound:

My favorite track from this movie is “Taking a Stand”. I think it’s the perfect mix of dramatic and heroic. The rest of the soundtrack is also excellent – Henry Jackson did a great job.

7. Final Thoughts:

This movie is a must watch for any Marvel fan. Honestly, even if you aren’t a Marvel fan, you still might enjoy this movie. It’s currently streaming on Disney+.
